Beware of these potential workplace accidents and injuries

It doesn’t matter if you work on a construction site, in a warehouse or in a traditional office setting, there are potential disasters lurking around every corner.

That may sound a bit severe, but it’s true. You could be part of a workplace accident when you least expect it.

Fortunately, when you’re aware of potential workplace accidents and injuries, it’s much easier to avoid a bad situation.

Here are five accidents to watch for:

  • Slip and fall: Regardless of where you’re walking, do your best to keep an eye on the ground ahead. Slip-and-fall accidents are common, with these having the potential to cause serious injury.
  • Falling object: Depending on your profession, you may work in an area where people are working at height. Just the same, objects may be stored overhead. If something falls to the ground, it could strike you and cause an injury.
  • Repetitive motion injury: If you do the same thing, day after day, it can eventually wear down your body. An example of this would be someone who types for many hours per day.
  • Vehicle accidents: If you drive for employment purposes, you could be part of an accident at some point. Even if you’re extremely cautious, you’re at risk every time you take to the road.
  • Overexertion: Depending on your profession, you may find yourself performing hard labor every day. For instance, construction workers often spend many hours in the sunlight. Overexertion can set in fast and lead to a variety of medical concerns.

If you’re part of a workplace accident in which you suffer an injury, report the incident to your employer, receive medical treatment and then learn more about filing a workers’ compensation claim.
